Story Till Now


A new house in a new estate has always been an attraction since we decided to stay back in Australia. The immense pleasure to decorate design interiors, organise all by myself pushed us to buy a piece of land in keysborough in June 2017. Had a hard time shortlisting the builder. Looked around for all the plans available in the market and walked in and out of various display homes on the weekends and browsed endlessly on the offers in market from different builders. We were quite sure on what we were looking for - Quality construction and good communication is what we wanted from the builders. Metricon, Henley and Carlisle had floor plans which we liked. We went to each of them to get a high level quote from the sales agent. I should be frank, Henley had the most luxury inclusions for the base price. But heard a real bad review for henley from one of my close friends who ditched henley and went with carlisle just before tender. Finally we ended up with Carlisle. Our requirements were quite clear : Need a butler's pantry Need a bathroom/shower downstairs and a bedroom Need space for a home library Theatre Room/Rumpus Room is a bonus No stairs from front door The most open living space With the requirements in mind, we initially selected Colorado Plan. But later on, we decided to change it to Illawara Grand because the living space was so open, bright and airy with lot of windows and an L-shaped Kitchen Island and the best thing is the Stairs opening upto the living area by which the upstairs activity area was also in a way connected to the downstairs living area. And the Master WIR was so wide that you can have a central table for additional storage. The Walk in Pantry can easily be converted to a butlers with all fixed windows. But the house will not have a theatre room/rumpus if we decide to have the bedroom downstairs. We went over the topic multiple times to decide if to have bedroom downstairs or just to have shower in powder. Since that a shower in powder reduces the space in pantry, we finally decided to go with additional master ensuite downstairs. Hurray!. I now feel that that was one of the most efficient decisions that we have made so far :). We paid 2k and locked in Carlisle.The excitement has kicked in!

Site Pour

We had our Site Pour on 28 th May. We are quite excited. I went around to have a look on what exactly is happening. Though I didnt understand much of it. We had a bit of hick up with our Site supervisor since he didnt update us on the rectification plans for the pre site pour inspection that we conducted. He neither updated us on the site pour completion. Not sure about the expectations. May be need to align that. We also paid our progress payment of 5% towards carlusle before the commencement of the next stage. Some photos from my visit.

Private Home Inspections

Over the past few weeks, we were talking to our friends who built houses recently. There were people who had engaged a private house inspectors and most of thought it is waste of time since the builders had a minimum standard specified by the government that they have to adhere to. We paused and thought for a bit and finally decided to engage a home inspector, for the peace of mind. especially with the double story construction. Now that we formally engaged the inspector, he is in contact with our Site Supervisor to do his first inspection before the site pour. Below are the stages that we have decided to engage them.
